HISTORY OF DOMAINE: It has been our good fortune to have received multiple requests from celebrated burgundian producers to represent their wines in the US market. We spent a good deal of time making a final selection to insure that the fit would be just right. Among those whose entreaties we found most enticing was Claudine Gaunoux who, working with her father, is producing a lovely group of wines that fit perfectly into our portfolio, including most of the top sites in Pommard, the formidable "Goutte d'Or" in Meursault, and a prime site in "Clos des Mouches" in Beaune. Further, her ideas about how to approach the market match our approach, namely later release dates and appreciation for ageability. So, included in the initial shipment are reds from the 1999 vintage and whites from the 2002 vintage. We will probably release the 2002 reds during the autumn of 2005 along with the 2003 whites.
